Dodo Girl

Layered print. Drypoint and etching

A child runs through layers of an African landscape. In the background are the prickly pear cacti, agave and the fever trees – all distinctive elements of the Eastern Cape where I grew up. The dodo is a reminder, and profound evidence, of the world that we do not do enough to protect. Protection, charity, justice and conservation.

Do we give enough back to the place from which we’ve come? Do we ever give enough back?
