Bed I

Monoprint with graphite drawing on chine collé

Initially, I thought I would do a series of monoprints or drawings of empty beds, but ultimately this idea morphed into a series of drawings and monoprints of my children sleeping. In part, this documents a time, a moment, that feels achingly significant to me, but also it is interesting that the bed has such significance as a symbol of protection, yet also of vulnerability and loss. Are the dreams and nightmares we have as children a way of overcoming our adversities in the growth to adulthood?
